Our very own Francesca Pirraglia had the honor of interviewing one of FIT Skyliners devoted members Judy Greco!
1)Who is your biggest influence in music?
My biggest influence in music would probably be the Beatles because my earliest memory of singing was singing Hey Jude by the Beatles which I liked because it sounded like my name was in the song. I performed that song on stage when I was 9 years old too and it always stuck with me.The Beatles probably shaped my interest in music as well because I always find myself listening to soft rock or indie music.
2) When did you discover your interest in music?
I have always had an interest in music because my father and sister were musicians. I always aspired to be a singer prior to coming to FIT for fashion design. I was in my school's chorus from 8th-10th grade and then joined chamber choir from 11th to 12th grade. I had also done a cappella in high school and 3 school musicals. I also performed solos and duets for school events.
3) Why did you join the FIT Skyliners?
I joined the FIT Skyliners because I had always wanted to be a singer, but even though I am not majoring in music, I wanted music to be incorporated in my every day life because I love performing so much. I felt with my experience, I could not only continue my passion, but also bring some of my knowledge and passion to the club.
4) What is your favorite part about the club?
My favorite part about being in the club is being able to be a part of something with a group of such different people. Because although we are all so different, we share one common interest- music. I think singing brings a good amount of joy not only to myself but to others. And I just love that.
5) How would you explain the Skyliners to somebody who has never heard of the club before?
If I had to explain the Skyliners to someone who hasn't heard of the club before, I'd tell them it is a club where people get to sing their hearts out and learn their parts in a song that is composed of voices only and no other instrument. Through many hours of dedication and practice, in the end, it all comes together and these parts form a union of beautiful notes and rhythms that tie together in making a song. I think it's incredible to hear everyone's individual parts together and hear an actual song result from it.
