Collegiate a cappella group is a chorus group, formed by college students, that makes music without using instruments. This extracurricular activity has been trending as these groups continue to grow.
The first collegiate a cappella group recorded and formed at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1873. This trend began to grow amongst the Ivy Leagues colleges,in the 1900s, such as Yale, and Brown University. In a cappella music, there is a special language that's used to create sound and music, called Doo-Wop. Some examples of Doo-Wop are “ha”, “oo”, “doo wa doo wa”, etc. A cappella groups are able to assemble a song with multiple layers just by learning and singing this language.
